After our time in Auckland and trip to Tim’s Aunt we had 2 weeks left in which we toured both the north and south Island and had the best time ever! And the best thing was that Tim’s Sister Sophie,  who is on an axchange program here in NZ at the moment had school holidays and was able to come with us!! So the three of us packed our stuff and a tent in the over-full rental car and off we went to enjoy all the natural beauty this amazing country has to offer!! It has to be said though after Australia the weather and temperatures took a bit of getting used to for Tim and me!! Especially at night in the tent…even with 3 pairs of trousers, 2 jumpers a sleeping bag and a blanket each! 😀 But it’s all part of the fun really 🙂 We experienced so much I’ll put the main events in to extra posts but here was the main route: We started off in Whitianga at Sophies hist family where we had to stay am extra 2 days due to a(nother) cyclone threat. They even evacuated half the town! After finally being able to leave we made our way through the flooded landscape (and even a flooded road) to Hobbiton, Rotorua, Lake Taupo, did the Tongariro Alpine crossing and ended up in Wellington where we got the ferry to the South Island. There we drove down the west coast (the east coast roads we’re closed due to the big Christchurch earthquake and cyclones) and got to see the Pancake Rocks, Hokitika Gorge, a lot of lakes and mountains, the Franz Joseph Glacier, Queenstown, even more lakes and mountains and Milford Sound, which has been voted the most beautiful place on earth in the past! As was the case most of the time we really couldn’t do with it though, the weather in Milford Sound was horrible. Foggy and wet, making it difficult to see the whole beauty but even in those conditions it was breathtaking. And we even saw dolphins! So here come a lot of pictures of Mountains and Lakes…and other things 😀
